Even after your soul gets healed, evil spirits have one job which is to torment you as long as possible. Even though they don’t have the legal right, those demons will try to stay until you command them to leave in the name of Jesus.
Exousia is the anointing that releases Christ’s authority when you say the name of Jesus. The muscle that kicks demons off your life once your soul gets healed.
Jesus gave both power (Greek word dunamis) and authority (Greek word exousia) to his disciples because they needed the power to heal people’s souls and the authority to command demons to leave.
Understanding the difference between these two forms of anointing and how they work together hand in hand will take your authority and dominion over the enemy to a higher level.
Matthew 10:1
New Living TranslationJesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.
Power and authority are two different kinds of anointing that do unique things but work perfectly together. It is necessary for us to be operating in them both.
Dunamis = power to work miracles and heal/make people have excellence of soul. Jesus gave this power to his disciples but they also had authority i.e. Exousia in the Strong’s Concordance Dictionary = Powerful heaven’s governmental anointing.
The power of Him whose will and command must be submitted to by others and obeyed. It is the power that causes demonic spirits to submit to and obey you when you give a command.
When you command an evil spirit to bow in the name of Jesus, it is exousia that is released. If you loose someone of an infirmity in the name of Jesus; it is exousia that is released which forces that spirit to leave that person in the name of Jesus.
Where does Exousia come from?
Just like dunamis it comes from Jesus Christ. Through the resurrection of Christ dunamis was made available to all believers and it is the same thing with exousia.
Jesus Christ possessed all authority in both heaven and on earth
Matthew 28:18King James Version (KJV)18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Jesus carried the full measure of exousia and used it to make demons obey his commands (Mark 1:22-26)
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, 24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. 26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
When Jesus as a man commanded that demon to leave, the power that was released was exousia and that demon was forced to obey Jesus the man’s commands. The cool part is that God gave it to Jesus; Jesus gave it to us.
Why did the spirit obey Jesus?
Philippians 2 says jesus stripped himself of all dignity….., Jesus came to heaven like a man so got hungry, thirsty etc like a man. He came to earth like a man but without sin, he had to otherwise he could not be the atoning sacrifice for the rest of mankind.
Jesus came;
1. To be an atoning sacrifice
2. To show us that whatever he did, he did it as a man so we can do it too. In fact he said greater things than he did, we will be able to do.
Matthew 10 says Jesus summoned his disciples and gave them power, authority and….
As a disciple you get power and authority to drive out evil spirits and heal the sick.
So now when we say words like ‘‘Be gone/bow/I cast you out in the name of Jesus’’ etc. exousia is released when we speak that command and that power of exousia forces the evil spirit to obey.
When we say bow they do, when we give the command we say it differently than Jesus did as we say it in the name of Jesus. Why? Because (Matthew 28) God gave Jesus all Exousia and he gave it to us so he have to say it in his name which gives us the right to receive it, carry it and release it.
Why is this important to know? Because it is said Jesus gave the disciples power and authority which are both needed.
The woman bowed over with the spirit of authority for example had a spirit on her, but also a wound in her soul (infirmity means weakness of the body and of the soul) so she was sick in her body, her soul and she had a spirit on her.
To get rid of that you would first get rid of the wound in the soul so you pray for the dunamis anointing you are carrying to be released on her by praying she become excellent of soul which is what dunamis means, so we pray that the resurrection power heals her soul in the name of Jesus.
Now the wound is gone, we get rid of the spirit that’s making her sick so we release exousia by commanding the spirit of infirmity to leave her in the name of Jesus.
This releases the heavenly governmental authority forcing the demon to obey your command.
Then you release dunamis again, power to perform a miracle so you pray that her spine be healed and the damage the spirit has done to her be fixed. That she be caused to have a new spine.
If you just had dunamis you could heal the soul wound, perform a miracle on the body but that spirit would stay there until you kick it out with the power of exousia because that’s what forces demons to submit to your command in the name of jesus.
If you only had exousia, you would go in there and be commanding that demon to go but it wouldn’t have to bow to your command in the name of Jesus because it still has the legal right to be there because there is still a wound in the soul and without dunamis you can’t heal but just exercising your authority.
This is a mistake made frequently by the modern church where only one anointing is applied neglecting the other.
Different mode different anointing must be used
1. Soul healing - dunamis
2. Command - exousia
3. Creative miracle - dunamis
Prayer
Lord Jesus I repent of any sin I committed that wounded my soul. I know your blood atones for every sin in me so wash me clean of every trespass, transgression, iniquity, rebellion, sin of unforgiveness and every sin; both known and unknown in the name of Jesus. I decree your blood is going back in time to every place that I or my ancestors may have sinned send your blood all the way back to the garden and wash away every sin throughout time in my family line. I apply the power of the cross right now to my soul. I decree that I am forgiven in the name of Jesus. Amen. Part of the process of getting your soul healed for your breakthrough is to forgive people no matter what they have done to you. When you do that, you’re going to get the healing.
Pray
Lord Jesus I forgive anyone that has sinned against me no matter what that sin was I know my breakthrough is going to come when I forgive. I believe you will bring me into freedom as I walk through this with you. So, I forgive every person that has hurt me, cheated me, abused me, robbed me, talked about me, criticized me, abandoned me, rejected me, hated me, betrayed me, deceived me or neglected me. I release the power of the cross into every one of these situations. I repent of any unforgiveness I have held onto and I ask that you would cleanse me of it right now by the power of your blood in Jesus name, Amen.
Sin has wounded our souls and dunamis power from the resurrection is going to heal those wounds. Philippians 3:10 speaks of the dunamis power to heal the soul and perform miracles. This power that comes from the resurrection of Jesus has the ability to heal your physical body and your wounded soul as well. Acts 10:38 said that God anointed Jesus with power - and he used that power to heal everyone that was oppressed.
Pray
Lord Jesus I decree the same power that you used to heal people in their body and their souls lives in me. I’ve been resurrected with you so dunamis power lives in my spirit. I release it right now into my wounded soul and my physical body.
I decree every wound inside of me that came from sin or trauma is being healed right now by resurrection dunamis power. Say - ‘‘ I am excellent of soul and I have the power to perform a miracle in my physical body as well.
I decree that dunamis is healing every sickness, every disease and every disorder in my body right now in Jesus name. I’m being healed in soul and body in the name of Jesus. Amen
Last step: Here we release Christ’s Authority in us by speaking the name of Jesus
When we speak the name of Jesus it releases the anointing of exousia that Christ gives to all his disciples. Exousia means the power of him that all commands must be submitted to and obeyed. Your soul just got healed by dunamis. Now, as you say the name of Jesus demons will have to submit to your command.
Pray
In the name of Jesus I release the exousia anointing i’m carrying right now. Jesus gave it to me so every spirit afflicting my soul, my body and any other part of my life must go now in Jesus name. I decree that every demonic assignment; you must obey my command now in the name of Jesus. I command you to leave right now in Jesus name. Loose me! in Jesus name . Go in the name of Jesus. Take with you every disease and every affliction that you put on me. I break your assignments right now in the mighty name of Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
