Sermon
Scripture - 2 Kings 4:1-7
Poverty can arrest your destiny. Because this woman in the text above (a widow) was poor; creditors gave her 24 hours before they come and arrest her destiny by taking away her two sons to slavery and that would have been the end of her lineage in that house.
Lessons to learn
1.) She reported the arresters to God: She ran to the man of God and said “help me, they want to arrest my destiny”.
Psalm 121:1-2, Psalm 46:1. Turn to God for help in time of trouble. If you can just be in partnership with God you are guaranteed huge success. In 2Sam 6:11 Obededom opened his house for three months for what we now call house fellowship and in the end, the whole nation heard of him.
2.) She obeyed her commander-in-chief: She knew the instructions were coming from God through his servant.
Deut 28:1-2 She didn't just hear, she did what she was asked to do (James 1:22,25. Romans 2:13)
3.) She released what she had to get what she wanted: 1Kings 17:8-16, 2Chro 1:6-15 Solomon got not just what he wanted, but much more when he released what he had.
When you have little and you hold on to it, the little will begin to diminish till no more is left. When you release the little to God, He has his miraculous way of turning it to something much more than you even bargained for.
4.) She harvested the good relationship she had with her neighbours: She made herself friendly enough to her neighbours to be able to borrow empty vessels from them (Proverbs 27:10). Get all your neighbours saved so that they become your brothers and sisters in the Lord so that when you need help the least they can do is pray for you. There will be days you can't reach your Pastor but can get help from neighbours which is one of the purposes of house fellowship.
5.) Testify about your miracle when it comes: many people are still in debt because they do not say thanks to God about what they considered small blessings for example; safe journey during travel, normal bodily functions, miracle of waking up etc
